George Petersen Insurance Agency

With more than 10 offices in Northern California and one in Oregon, the Petersen agency takes pride in the products, service and staff it offers to businesses and individuals. The agency has more than 75 years experience and offers both exceptional service and competitive pricing to protect its clients’ assets, according to its website.
Operating an office out of Ukiah, the George Petersen Insurance Agency works directly with many of the vineyards and wineries in the region. Agent/broker Kyler Crawford, a producer for the agency’s commercial insurance, notes that the majority of business clients through the agency’s Ukiah office is linked to the wine industry. Crawford said the insurance agency provides service to an estimated 80 percent of the wineries in the region, many of them larger wineries in Mendocino County.
The agency is reaching out to Lake County to offer the same high quality products and service, Crawford said, by conference call on his way to staff the Petersen Insurance Agency booth at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium in Sacramento. The agency takes a strong interest in its clients and gets involved with community, he added.
Crawford has a direct link to the wine industry and Mendocino County communities. His family owns and operates the McDowell Valley Vineyards in Hopland. His father, Bill, is the winemaker and was on the board of directors for the Mendocino Winegrape Commission.
“We are knowledgeable,” Crawford said. “We can go over your policy and see if you have everything you need. We can tailor your coverage to your business, and we offer programs specific to wineries.”
For businesses, the agency offers strong property and general liability coverage, workers compensation, professional liability, commercial auto, employment practice and additional coverage. “We offer risk management service free to clients,” Crawford said. “We supply safety materials in English and Spanish. From the online platform, employers can print materials, view videos, administer quizzes, and track certificates. We can certify forklift drivers; we have someone in-house to do that.”
