The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) just announced availability of disaster assistance through the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+).

WHIP+ will provide “disaster payments to producers to offset losses from hurricanes, wildfires, and other natural disasters” and is “specifically targeted to losses of crops, trees, bushes, and vines that occurred in the 2018 and 2019 calendar years.”

The program is being administered through the USDA, and applications for assistance will be accepted beginning Wednesday, September 11, 2019.

Lake County winegrape growers whose crop and/or vines were impacted by last year’s wildfires are encouraged to attend an informational seminar being held next week in Kelseyville.
