Bellissimo! Wine Country Catering
Barbara Flynn and her business, Bellissimo! Wine Country Catering, are no strangers to the Lake County Winegrape Commission. Bellissimo! has provided catering to several Commission events, and it is one of the Commission’s helpful Affiliate Sponsors.
Bellissimo! provides catering for special events, gala affairs, cocktail parties and other gatherings throughout Lake County.
With roots in Lake County and a passion for cooking, Flynn has owned and operated several dining businesses in the Cobb area, including Salmina’s Roadhouse and The Country Kitchen. Her catering business complements her current restaurant, The Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta on Cobb, where she showcases 24 varieties of Lake County wine.
Flynn was born in Lakeport but grew up in Sonoma. She spent her teenage years working in her parents’ fast food restaurant. She later honed her cooking skills while working with a caterer in Sonoma.
Her grandparents lived in Lake County and her family visited often when she was a child. Then, when her two sons and a daughter were young, Flynn’s parents bought property on Cobb and the family would spend summer weekends camping out in the area. She says they were able to buy a small home in 1972 and made the move back to Lake County.
In addition to staying busy with her family, which include three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Flynn is a director with the Lake County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Lake Family Resource Center board of directors. She has had a real estate license since 1973; and up until a few years ago, real estate was her primary business. She mostly provides referrals now.
With her catering business, pizza restaurant, community service and family commitments, Flynn does not find much time for herself. “I have to laugh when people say there is nothing to do in Lake County. I am so busy I have to force myself to stay home and relax.”
She enjoys working with the Commission to bring high quality food to accompany Lake County wine.
