The American Wine Society and the Lake County Winegrape Commission are excited to announce plans for the 42nd American Wine Society National Conference, to be held this year in Destin, Florida, November 5–7. Several Lake County wines will be served at the event. See below for a complete list and the dates/times that they will be served.

A. LAKE COUNTY WINES TO BE SERVED AT THE AWS WELCOME RECEPTION.
THURSDAY NOVEMBER 5, 2009 7:00 - 8:30 P.M.

1. Bell Hill Vineyards (www.bellhillvineyards.com)
Bell Hill, Lake County, Merlot 2005: Tnose features sweet notes of vanilla and cherries while the mouth repeats with ripe tannins, just to let you know they are there – very nice. The grapes for this wine were sourced from Bell Hill in Big Valley, on the south side of Clear Lake. $23.00 per bottle.

2. Shannon Ridge (www.shannonridge.com)
Shannon Ridge 2007 Lake County Chardonnay: The grapes used to produce our 2008 Shannon Ridge Lake County Chardonnay were picked from several different blocks to help create an elegant multi-layered wine with great complexity. The wine was barrel fermented in American oak to help create the creamy vanilla flavors and rich mouth feel. $24.00 per bottle.

Shannon Ridge 2008 Lake County Sauvignon Blanc: like color with a fruitful lemon grass, mango and goose berry aroma. This wine has a tropical, citrus and tangerine flavors with a crisp nicely balanced fullness and lingering finish. $16.00 per bottle.

Shannon Ridge 2008 Lake County Wrangler Red: A rich dark red color with the aroma Grandma's homemade Raspberry Jelly on tasty warm angel food cake. The flavor compares to real vanilla ice cream smothered in pomegranate and boysenberry reduction sauce and the texture feels like Pink Silk Pajamas with a black feather boa and embroidered leather cowboy boots.

Rosa d'Oro 2007 Muscat Canelli: Light and crisp with flavors of citrus, apricot, white peach and mango. Bronze 2009 Riverside International Wine Competition, Silver 2009 San Diego Wine Competition. $16.00 per bottle.

Rosa d'Oro 2007 Dolcetto: Rich, full and dry with flavors of cherry, plum and chocolate. $18.00 per bottle.

Shed Horn 2005 Lake County Cabernet Sauvignon: This elegant well-balanced Cabernet Sauvignon is laced with black cherry, boysenberry and a deep raspberry richness. It hints of chocolate and tobacco and finishes with a smooth delicate touch of vanilla oak and soft tannins. Pair this wine with your favorite beef dishes, grilled meats, and hearty pastas. $29 per bottle.

5. Moore Family Winery (www.moorefamilywinery.com)
2008 Moore Family Winery Lake County Sauvignon Blanc: Sauvignon Blanc just happens to be one of Lake County’s signature grapes and we are proud to build on this reputation. Our Lake County Sauvignon Blanc is pale green-gold in color and is loaded with bright grapefruit, lemon-lime, and kiwi fruit. The wine has lively acidity and finishes crisp and clean on the palette. This wine is fantastic by itself, or even better when served with warm goat cheese, fresh oysters, Dungeness crab, or flash fried calamari. $16.00 per bottle.

2008 Moore Family Winery Lake County Syrah / Grenache Rosé: Our inaugural release, this Rose’ is going to make those warm Lake County summer days a little cooler. Take a sip and be whisked away to southern France, where beach front cafés allow you to feel the sand between your toes, as you snack on fresh fruit, cheese, and of course, delicious Rosé wine. Our Rosé is the perfect blend of Syrah and Grenache, and offers up flavors of fresh strawberries, passion fruit, mandarin orange, and Bing cherries. Red wine flavors meet the white wine lifestyle. 2006 Moore Family Winery, “Red Hills District”, Lake County Zinfandel: Hold onto your seat belts! Our Lake County Zinfandel is big, bold, and spicy! Dark purple and inky in color, our Zin is packed with mouth filling blackberry and raspberry fruit flavors and just a pinch of black pepper. This wine delivers everything that you’ve come to expect from Lake County Zinfandel. Serve with pizza, pasta, or Baby-back ribs with a spicy sauce. Also pairs well with dark chocolate. $22.00 per bottle.

Line 39 Lake County 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon: Our 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon starts with aromas of bright red fruits, blackberry, tobacco and cedar. This elegant wine offers chewy black fruit flavors with subtle tannins on the finish that don’t overpower this easy-to-drink Cabernet Sauvignon. $7.00 per bottle.

Line 39 Lake County 2007 Sauvignon Blanc: Varietally accurate, this 2007 Sauvignon Blanc opens with vibrant aromas of grapefruit and lemon citrus, with subtle grassy characters. On the palate, this wine does not disappoint with refreshing flavors of grapefruit, lime and lemon, balanced by bright, crisp acidity on the finish. This easy sipping wine makes a perfect aperitif. $10.00 per bottle.

Line 39 Lake County 2006 Petite Sirah: The 2006 Petite Sirah offers aromas of red and black fruits, with a hint of oak. A full-bodied wine that is both complex and elegant, this wine boasts rich flavors of dark fruits, cherries and a long finish that we believe will help put Lake County on the map. This Petite Sirah calls out for big juicy steak.

Six Sigma 2008 Lake County Sauvignon Blanc: A delicate wine, fresh and crisp, with ripe aromas of Meyer lemon, grapefruit, and fresh herbs complemented by fruit flavors of gooseberry and pear. Nice minerality and long clean finish. Pairs well with seafood and cheese and is a terrific complement to Asian cuisine, greens, grilled asparagus and stuffed and roasted artichokes.$20.00 per bottle.

Six Sigma 2006 Lake County Cuvee Pique-Nique: An impressive, easy-going Bordeaux-style blend with aromas of dried herbs, violet and lavender and berry flavors of cassis and blackberry with a long, elegant vanilla and mocha finish. Ripe, dense tannins complement the creamy mouthfeel. An everyday, food-friendly wine perfect with cheese, grilled vegetables and meats including BBQ, skirt-steak and rib-eye as well as more traditional fare such as Beef Bourguignon.

Gregory Graham 2007 Red Hills, Lake County Viognier: The fruit aromas of fig, peach and light citrus are further enhanced with floral, butter, toffee and toasted oak. The wine is very full bodied, with flavors of ripe apricot and peach. Serve this wine with spicy dishes of curry, ginger, fruit salsa or Pacific Rim cuisine. The wine can also be enjoyed on its own or with anything that calls for rich, full bodied Vin Blanc. $20 per bottle.

2. Obsidian Ridge (www.tricyclewines.com)
Obsidian Ridge 2007 Red Hills Lake County Cabernet Sauvignon: Aromas explode out of the glass: blackberry cobbler baked with cinnamon sticks. A spicy, dried herbal aroma envelops the fruit and transports us to that warm vintage on the slopes of Obsidian Ridge. Snows Lake One 2005 Red Hills, Lake County Cabernet Sauvignon: The fruit is forward and there is plenty of tannin behind it for balance. Flavors linger long. A delicious wine that you can already enjoy because of the softness of the tannins. Lovely richness on the palate. $30.00 per bottle.

Wildhurst Reserve Lake County Chardonnay: It's Wildhurst Chardonnay all the way! Signature toasty oak and vanilla with a touch of citrus with tones of ripe melon. Mid-palate crispness gives way to a creamy, buttery finish. Chardonnay personality plus! $14.00 per bottle.
